Cedar Hill state park is nice and has full hookups. They have mountain bike trails that are a load of fun to ride a mountain bike on or you can just walk on them. I think it's probably about 2 (3 hours max) from Wylie.

Edit: Forgot to mention the lake (Joe Pool lake). If you do any of that lake stuff then it's there too (fishing, boating). They even have kayak rentals, which is kind of fun but a lot of work.

Welcome and some good places

Welcome Leah,

My wife and I live a bit north of you near Bonham, Texas. Welcome to a great place for info and help. We have a Minnie Winnie Class C - 31KP.

OK - some places we like that would not very far for you to go: (no particular order - just looking at my records):

Purtis Creek Texas SP, Cooper Lake Texas SP, Atlanta Texas SP, Caddo State Park (a favorite), Robber's Cave SP in Oklahoma, Lake Ouachita State Park in Arkansas (beautiful), Mount Magazine SP in Arkansas (very nice), Daisy SP in Arkansas (another great park). The State Parks in Arkansas are generally well kept and several would be a fairly easy one day drive for you.

We are planning a East Texas loop soon to include some of the above and also: Tyler SP and Martin Creek Lake SP. We want to leave next week but are looking at that including the holiday weekend (Memorial Day) and finding little places to choose. We normally travel on other than holidays but this trip we hoped to start around the 25th of May and be back 2 weeks later. Other than a holiday weekend we have not found parks full.

We have also stayed at some others in East Texas, Southern Oklahoma and Arkansas but the above are some nice ones for sure for us. We like hiking trails and a view of the Southern sky for satellite (LOL). l

Again welcome and hope you get out in your Class C and enjoy yourself.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Riover - our very first trip was to Joe Pool Lake and we loved it, especially my sister's grandkids. They had never been in an RV or even camping so I'm already being reminded that school is almost out and do I know what that means (MH trip!).

Gary, thanks for the great ideas of campgrounds in east Texas and Arkansas. I will definitely check these out.

If anyone has suggestions on campgrounds in North or Central (Hill Country) TX or Southern OK, they would be much appreciated.
Looking forward to meeting some of you irv2'ers on the road!
