This is a subject that makes my blood pressure go up. We are both self-employed and pay $1,000 a month for lousy health insurance. We are too old to go back to work for anyone else. We can't retire until we can get Medicare. It is simple as that. No way can we add $1,000 a month to our retirement budget. I have checked into many plans. If you are young and in perfect health, no problem. If you have some extra weight and some preexisting conditions, forget it. I pay for those who have no insurance and for those on Medicare too, yet even with $1,000 a month out of pocket when I do see a doctor it costs me about 40% of the charges. There is no relief for the person in the middle because we are paying for everyone else. I am not trying to be poitical here, just stating the facts.
