Hello to all
Hello to all,
Been reading the forum a lot. I'm impressed with the generally civil nature of the iRV2 forum and the huge amount of information available so I finally decided to join. Also the price was right.<grin>
As y'all know a DP motor-home is a lot of money headed downhill breathtakingly fast so we're doing our best to get it right the first time. Good thing I'm a quick learner because I've got a mountain of things to learn. I realize you can't learn it all just reading about it on the inter-tube but so far I've learned a lot here just bouncing from one section to another.
Not only do we not own a motor-home yet but neither my wife nor I have even driven a one yet. (nor emptied a black-water tank) <another grin>
We're doing the L.D. driver confidence course in two weeks. That should be a fun experience.
Time-line:
- Sell 12yr old Honda... tomorrow.
- Buy almost new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited... soon as I can find one.
- Find and buy the perfect 8 ~ 10 yr old DP Motor-home... next 3 months.
- Will keep Motor-home at one or more local camp grounds until retirement... central FL.
- Move out of stick & brick into MH.
- Get rid of a lifetime worth of junk..
- Rent out stick & brick.
- Sell 5yr old Toyota RAV4... just before retirement.
- Wife & me retire... end of 2012.
- Lookout America... ya-hoo!
Regards,
Tom & Mel

Hi Tom and Mel, welcome to IRV2. Sounds like you have a good plan. Good luck with your search for a MH. It is exciting and petrifying at the same time retiring, selling house and furnishings, moving into MH. But once the short adjustment period is over it is the greatest feeling of freedom to roam the country or stay put. Alot of choices that we didn't have before. Enjoy this site and hope to meet you on the road somewhere.

What do you fly? My son is a 2011 Embry Riddle graduate and is an assistant chief flight instructor in Daytona Beach, FL.

Started flying in 1964. Since 1974 I've flown in the aerial mapping business. Ended up flying a Cessna 208 Caravan. Our aircraft are specially modified with large view ports in the floor. Mounted above the ports we use various sensors like cameras, LiDAR or hyper spectral sensors. However about 3 years ago I started flying a desk full time.
Does your son plan to fly for an airline eventually or is he looking at other opportunities? I flight instructed also many years ago. It's a great way to really learn how to fly by teaching others.
Regards,
Tom C.
