Red face Hi ALL from Central Florida

I am new to RVing and a full-timer, at least for now. My daughter and I will be in confined spaces and loving it, I hope. Anyway, looking for the best long-term, semi- long-term places in Seminole County if anyone has suggestions. Also, I am already having difficulty with electrical since I THINK I blew my inverter by running the AC. I really don't know for sure. Anyway, if anyone in the area knows anything and can take a look, I would greatly appreciate it since I just put all my funds into purchasing the unit, I would like to save a little to buy the part rather than put it into diagnostics. Thanks for being here as a forum as I am certain I will have a lot of questions in the near future.

Welcome to IRV2, another Seminole Countyian here as well.

Have you looked at Wekiva Falls for a long term spot? It's out a little bit, but decent rates and amenities. Post some info on what is happening with the inventor and make/model etc. and perhaps we can give you some pointers.

Yes, add your camper details to your signature. It makes it easier to help out.

The inverter(changes 120VAC to 12VDC) shouldn't have anything to do with the AC running.

Check all breakers in the breaker box. The inverter is powered by one of them.

Isn't that backwards;? I believe an inverter changes 12VDC to 120vac.

Glad to have you here with us.

Have you looked at your inverter you may have tripped its circuit breaker.

Good luck and Happy Trails!!

2010 Jayco Greyhawk. Everything was working great hooked up with my shore line via an adapter to a heavy duty extention cord to a standard house outlet.

Then one afternoon it was warmer and my daughter turned on the air conditioner. All of a sudden my daughter saw smoke coming from where the inverters and switches are under the fridge and smelled electrical smoke, after that eveything started working weird.

The truck engine and the generator will still charge the house batteries which only last about 6 hours with minimal usage.

I already reset the switch on the Xantrex xs400 inverter and insured the other two gfci receptacles weren't tripped. I checked the circuit breakers, but have not checked the fuses yet. NOthing looks odd or smells in the inverter compartment. Everything works while generator or truck engine are running.

As soon as the batteries are charged the motor or generator shut down and at that point, I assume, the inverter ( one of them) stops working because I'm only on battery power so no outlets or appliances work.

Once the battery runs out of power, of course, I lose the fridge and the water pump and must turn on truck engine to ignite the generator from within my control box.

Any direction will help so I don't get completely taken advantage of. Thanks for offering.

Thanks, I'm not sure how long ago you were at Wekiva, but I have heard terrible things and read terrible reviews about partying, kids running around unsupervised and drunken hillbillies just outside the property. If anyone has been there recently and can tell me differently, I'd love to stay there. I visit the springs, but have never camped there.

I am in a 2010 Jayco Greyhawk. Thanks for info.
