Hi, everyone

I've been reading this site for half a year -- my wife and I plan to get on the road and cruise around California starting in January. (Youngest boy goes to college tomorrow -- last of our five still at home.)

I've got a 2019 RAM with the Hemi engine -- supposedly capable of towing ~8800 pounds. I've never towed anything in my life -- I'm a Los Angeles data architect by day, fair electrician, barely adequate carpenter, not an auto mechanic at any level.

Looking to purchase a trailer capable of towing my wife, self, and small dog.

We're tentatively planning to buy something in the ~$25K, ~25 foot range in the next couple months -- spend a few weeks in the general L.A. area, then start up the state to visit family scattered across California, while shopping for land to build a house. (I have 5 kids, I want to build a house big enough for them all to visit. Can't do that in West L.A.)

Not really asking for advice -- though if anyone has any, bless you -- but anyone who's done anything similar, I'd love to hear from you.

I'm not wholly certain we're not making a mistake, but I'm ready to take half a year and make it.

Hi FatSam - - You never know you've made a mistake unless you've tried something......

I think your plan is solid.

There is sooooo much advice & info here on iRV2, but always know it is subjective. You Tube has a ton of videos, which can help you become informed with everything from driving a trailer/5th wheel to dumping your tanks.

Good luck to you and your family......welcome aboard!!
