Hi from Las Vegas

Hi there. I'm Lisa, DH is Steve and we are RV addicts

We just bought our first RV last week from DH's parents and drove it from Arkansas to Las Vegas (which is home) in 2.5 days (had to get back to work). It is a 20-year old Class C which is still in pretty good shape.

We've gently dipped our toe into the RV waters (money wise) to see how we like the RV experience. We hope to leave the work rat race in five years and think we want to fulltime.

I've already researched and locked in on our next motorhome purchase. A 2012 Newmar Ventana (4043) and will soon be perusing the Newmar members forum even though we don't have a Newmar yet...so I guess I'm a Newmar wannabe . The Newmar purchase will be on or about September 1, 2016 (can you tell I'm a planner??)

Glad to be here and hope to learn a lot!

Hi Lisa and Steve,

Never too early to plan but you will probably find yourself changing your mind several times.

Good Luck,
Jon

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

We like the Newmar because of the model that has the wardrobe closet. We're both computer junkies and have four computers currently. I don't see us having fewer in retirement, so we need a wardrobe-type space to set up as a mini data center

We also like the Comfort Drive system...but since we have five years before the purchase I'm quite sure we'll find other brands, models and features that we like just as much.

What I can't get over though is every brand and model we've seen has you sitting as right angles to the main television. That position looks like it would put a serious crick in the neck, so I don't understand why furniture can't be placed so that the TV is viewed from straight on.

It was a smart move to buy an older rig for your first RV. You will soon learn what you like and dislike so that the next rig will be closer to what you want.
My advice to people buying a RV is to go with the floor plan that you both like. Make that the #1 priority on your wish list.
