Hi from NC...for now...

Hi all, we are Trent and Mellie, and we live in NC for the moment. We don't have an RV just yet, but our wanna-be status will change some day soon, when we get (insert good RV brand name here) and head off into the wild blue yonder (hopefully with at least most of the wheels on the road) as full-timers. In the mean time, I can now change our official status to "posted" instead of "lurking".

Welcome.... Have you ever had an RV?

I assume you have been looking at RV's and have you found any with a floor plan you like?

It's important to look at as many as you can even if it means driving several hundred miles to see a lot of them.

We have not had an RV, but we have been researching the daylights outta them for the last month and it'll be a bit before we get one. Plus, the wife can spell RV, so that gives me loads of confidence since I can't. We have been looking at a lot of RVs lately, and seriously oogling about 4 manufacturers so far. We're diggin on the Entegra Anthem, American Coach Eagle, Winnebago Tour, and Itasca Ellipse. So far, we've seen a new Tour and used Eagle, and are driving 3 hours this weekend to see some new Itascas and Americans. Unfortunately, no dealers anywhere near here offer anything even remotely resembling an Entegra, so that's another trip to be made later.

And sorry for the late response, I was lurking again. Some habits die hard...

It's very seldom that people buy the "just right" RV on the first purchase so I don't know how much I would spend on the first rig keeping in mind there may be a good chance you will find something else that meets your needs better after you've been in a coach for a year or so.
The floor plan should be right on top of your decision list.

I'd really suggest renting an RV for a few weeks and taking a trip with it. It will soon become clear what you like and don't like.

Keep in mind that if Momma ain't happy, nobody is happy.

Welcome Trent and Mellie! Good luck on your search, especially since there only two dealers in the area. I am assuming you've already gone to Hawleys and Bill Plemmons. We have bought from both dealers and have been happy with our purchase. We had hoped to go to the RV show in Raleigh the 16th, but will be in Kentucky. Good luck and please join our Carolina Campers Group, which is a subgroup of the Southeast region. Hope to meet you on the road or at a campground.

Don't forget the RV show in Greensboro this weekend. http://www.northcarolinarvda.com/greensboro.html
We went to the one in Charlotte last month that was put on by the same organization and it was awesome. May go to this one too just to look around again.
