Hi from Redondo Beach, CA
Hi, All!
Nice site. I don't have an RV yet, but am nearing retirement, and want to get back into camping.
In earlier years I was mainly a boater, both lake and small ocean.
I'll be looking for threads on how to decide what to get - interested in smaller Class A, Class C, and possibly TT. After reading a lot in this forum and others, I'm starting to lean away from TTs a little bit.
I will probably start out with some renting - I know I'll enjoy RVing as I've done it some in the past, but I want to make sure my wife enjoys it. We will probably go Cruise America, since there is an outlet pretty close to where we live. I'm interested in their sales too - so will be looking for people's experiences with that.
My kids (4 sons and 1 step son) have all flown, so the travelers will be my wife, our small dog, and me. Possibly some grand kids someday (we have one granddaughter so far).

We hired from cruise America quite a few times , great fun but basic c class was super noisy .
Eventually bought a 28ft class A with single slide (2003) , used the heck out of it , but even with $3k of steering and suspension upgrades it was scary in side winds of passing trucks .
Now moved up to used 36 DP , super nice but complicated .
Just wife and I plus dog

Welcome to IRV2. Great decision to get back into RVing.....half the fun is researching and checking out reviews on potential rigs. Start looking and learning. I bought exactly what DW told me I needed

Hi from WY, welcome to the forum from an ex Torrance resident for over 40 years. I sailed those small oceans and large lakes myself over the years. Had a Columbia 24 at Redondo. Also a bass boat for Castaic. LOL. I started with pup tents, TCs, MHs, back to TCs, then to 5vers, then to NO camping to a TT, now back to a MH. My advise? I couldn't tell you which was best. They all have good and bad points depending on where you are in life and what you will be doing. I do know one thing. Don't take that fantastic offer from a salesman as a gospel price for any RV. Look around a lot. Renting is good. A lot of good advise on this forum. Also a lot of opinions because that is what they own. Just remember all RVs have basically all the same stuff inside. It is the box, and how it is hauled around that may make the difference. The October Pomona show is good for info, not prices. If I couldn't knock 30% off their asking price I walked. BUT! Some will strip an RV and put a high asking price expecting to take a reduced price. Be careful.
If you take your dog to the Pomona RV show keep it close. They steal dogs out there. We were lucky to get ours back.

Lol. What I meant was ocean-going boats under about 24 foot. I mostly used them in Santa Monica bay. Those days are over for me, but it was fun when I was younger.
