Hi from South Africa

Hi everyone, I recently visited Texas on business and purchased a 1999 Fleetwood Flair 34D from the nice ppl at PPL(see what I did there). I plan to use it in southern africa as accommodation for myself and volunteers on our rural HIV awareness and testing project.( I have also converted a Mercedes lorry (truck) into a mobile counselling clinic) I shipped it to Walvis Bay in Namibia and a fortnight (two weeks) ago went to collect it with my wife. A few scary moments travelling on the wrong side of the very narow roads with huge platinum ore trucks hurtling towards me, but the three days we took getting it home were very enjoyable, so much comfort and when we stopped for for fule in the little dorps(villages) everyone turned out to see us.
There are only a handful of Class A RVs in South Africa, so it is a real talking point. There was quite a lot of corrosion due to the 3 week sea voyage , every single external lock had to be stripped right down, but apart from the awning being ripped due to high winds everything was ok. I will be asking a lot of questions on the technical fora as there is no back up here and I will have to do most things myself. I also have a 1972 VW Westfalia to play with. Look forward to hearing from you, regards Jakethepeg
