Hi From UK

Hi,

Amber (my wife and I) are preparing ourselves for our tour of North America & Canada for 12 months, our flights are booked for 3rd July 2022 from UK to Florida.
In Jan we will be visiting the Tampa show to look at the RV we want to buy (Nexus Rebel 30r is our favourite but we are keeping an open mind).
We have applied for our Visas and have our interview scheduled at the embassy in London for early next year.
We are both taking our Heavy Good Vehicle driving tests (which we need to be legally allowed to drive the RV on our UK driving Licenses in the US, Canada and UK once we bring it back home with us).

The next leg of our tour will be to drive to Australia & New Zealand - after that who knows ..............

Ive started a web site and youtube channel for us to record our adventure and for friends and family to keep up with us

www.daveandamberontour.com

I like to learn new skills so the web page and youtube gives me something new to learn.

I will be grabbing info from the Forums, and also in time give back.

All the best

Dave & Amber

Welcome to the forum.
What an awesome opportunity. I look forward to checking in on your many adventures.
We lived in alconbury while I was in the Air Force many years ago.
Maybe we'll even see you out on the road.
Good luck!

Do keep in mind that inventories are impacted by CV-19, so while I'm absolutely sure there will be a multitude of vehicles at Tampa, the floorplan you desire may not be one of the ones available for sale at the show. Unless you preorder one, and facilitate pick up there.

Best of luck, enjoy your trip.

Welcome to the forum. Great plan but do me aware there is a bit of a "shortage" on RV availability so you may not have such a wide choice.

You are joining a good group of friends here with good information to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add information if you can.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Here in the United States most of our electrical stuff runs on 60 cycle 120 volts alternating current.

I think over in Europe you are mostly 50 cycle 220 volts alternating current.

If I'm correct how do you plan to get around that issue?

Hi Arch,
Thanks for your message. The RV will be USA spec as you say, our accessories (phone laptop etc) will charge from either 12v (USB) or 120v (our laptop charger accepts 120v or 240v. I have plans to add a 240v circuit when we get back to the UK so we can use Hookup in Europe and Australia.
Cheers

Thanks New2Road,

We are keeping an open mind with our RV choice, I do have some mild concerns about availability and quality of build - but nothing that cant be managed. We may well look at reserving when we visit in Jan, or take an internal flight to an RV when we arrive in July. We are lucky to have a friend we can stay with in Tampa as a base while we chill and assess.

All the best

Thanks Skip426,

Its all part of the adventure

Last year I flew to Poland to buy an RV which is a story in itself - I nearly lost £55,000 as it was I figured out it was a stolen stolen motorhome - luckily I got my money back
