Hi guys!
My name is scott, and I recently inherited a 1988 lance lc980 truck camper from my inlaws. It had been sitting in outdoor storage in the desert for 15 years, and they said I could have it, as long as they didn't have to pay storage fees anymore on it, so, my father in law and I drove down and picked it up. Its in really good shape for its age. All plumbing is working, and all electrical appliances wotk on shore power. Need to recertify and fill the propane tanks before I can test all the propane appliances and generator. All in all, for the price if free, it can't be beat. Pay no attention to the front ratchet straps. Those were only used to get it home..
My work schedule is such that I work until 11pm on friday night and have to be back at work at 6 am the following morning, so my plan is to use this to park at work with the camper overnight, so I don't have to drive 1.5 hours home, and then another 1.5 back on that quick turnaround..

Wow, it looks to be in pretty shape. Welcome to the forum. You will get lots of great info from here to help you out as you make the camper work for you. Looks like it work great for the short work shift turn around.

Thats what I am hoping. I am going to try it out tomorrow night. It will be a little interesting, as I don't yet have the generator working, so I won't have heat or AC, but I'll have a bed and shelter... Should work out just fine in Sunny southern california climate

You sure can't beat the price. Always liked the truck campers, had four over the years. Good luck on the propane. That should serve you well. Welcome to the group.

Thanks everybody. First thing I'm realizing after two trips up and down our mountain roads, is I need some sort of help for the rear suspension, either stable loads, timbrens or airbags. Anyone have one of these, or better yet used more than 1 of these and has a preference? Also thinking I'll add a rear swaybar... my best guess is since this is empty, it probably weighs around 2000 lbs, as it weighs 2548 fully "wet". Its 2000 lbs of high sprung weight, that's for sure.

Congratulations: That is a nice Unit, & probably, pretty Heavy. Just beef up your truck, and try to live with the results.
It looks like a 1-ton pickup would not be too much for that Nice Camper.
