'01 Dutch Star Slide issue

Does anyone know why the slide out on a 2001 Newmar Dutch Star sometimes does not come in when hitting the button.

Sometimes it will make a noise as if it wants to move, but doesn't. When we try it the second time, it will most often work, but sometimes it doesn't and we have to adjust the control way in under the kitchen sink (hard to get at).

Do we need to oil/lube the rollers, etc. under the slide? Or should the motor for the slide be overhauled?

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Sounds like the switch may be intermittent.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I used to have an '05 DS and had a similar issue. Mine was a bad controller. You can try swapping the controller with one from a different slide and see if that fixes it. If not it may be the switch.

Welcome to the forum JK.
You have one slide I believe and is the slide a LR SLIDE OR KITCHEN slide combination with the couch.
If its the LR slide you have a ramp for slide to travel up and ramp plates have to be all fastened to the wood ramp or rollers will not go up the ramp.
The wood ramp can rot out from moisture and would have to be repaired.
This link will have many items related to slides of which you may only have one.
That link comes from this one with many more items related to your coach and all the links in my signature have the older appliances in your coach plus other systems in your coach.
This slide spec shows possible problem with your slide switch because it didn't return to normal position.
You need no oil or lube for slide mechanical, only spray some 303 spray on the rubber seals to keep them slippery and flexible.
You do not want to turn pot up to high and only in small increments when adjusting or you could brake the welds of the rod stops on slide or inside coach compartment.
Looking at first link I gave you you will see slide spec's with instructions for you slide plus I will give you a Owners Guide for coach which I assume is a DP.
We loved your Is. traveled there many times to old now to drive, even try, but thanks for the memories.
