Welcome and congrats on getting an RV. Joining a membership club is a great way to get more information about owning an RV and what to do with it. There are several different types of clubs out there - one is social clubs that are for Rv'ers, Clubs that are for a specific brand, clubs formed for special lifestyles and clubs formed to provide discounts.
General RV Social Clubs include Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) FMCA is for motor coach and motorhome owners. Motorcoach articles, motor home blogs, motor coach advice and motorhome videos.
, Good Sam Club Good Sam RV Club – RV camping discounts and memberships
and Escapees www.escapees.com
which have chapters which are formed for people of a specific region, manufacturers and specific hobbies (i.e. ham radio). In addition to the social side they offer other things such as campground discounts, magazines, insurance, trip planner, etc.
RV Clubs for specific brands - usually manufacturer organized. One I am familiar with is the WIT WIT Club | Winnebago International Travelers
for Winnebago manufactured RV's they have state and local chapters as well as specialized chapters for hobbies. Almost all manufacturers have a club organized for their brand.
RV Clubs for specific lifestyles - not really familiar with these but have come across them online they are groups that are organized by and for specific sexual orientation, ethnic backgrounds, etc
RV Clubs for Discounts - the main clubs are Passport America which gives you a 50% discount at specific parks and KOA which is not really a club but you can purchase a value card which gives you discounts at KOA parks. Other memberships that come up from time to time are the camping clubs such as Thousand Trails www.thousandtrails.com
(there are several) where you purchase a membership and your entitled to stay at their parks. Basically you are paying in advance and you will need to stay more than 60 days to get the per day price down to average costs without membership.
Bottom line is what are going to do with your RV - stay locally or travel around the country, do you like exploring or feel a need for the socialization of a smaller group. All websites have all the benefits of the clubs. If you find you are torn between two clubs and can't decide post a question and I am sure you will get some direction from the readers.
