Talking Hooked on camping!

Hello, everyone. We're the Blankenships: Todd, Kelly, Mickey, Myla, and Manixx. We wanted to take the kid camping, but weren't sure about investing in our own camper so we rented one at Clearwater Park Campground in Uniontown, OH last year and it was by far the best vacation we've ever had! We are now hooked and hope to someday be full-timers. This year we purchased our first travel trailer and camped over the July 4th week. While we were out getting supplies that week, our truck broke down and that put a damper on our plans for the rest of the summer. But we won't let that stop us. We bought another truck, so let the camping fun resume!! Being novice campers, we're hoping to draw from the wisdom of other users and enhance our own experience.

Hi folks! Welcome to IRV2! It's great to have you join us! Yep, you've definitely got the bug! It's a great lifestyle! I just wish we had discovered it when the kids were little. Congrats on the new rig! Sorry about the truck, that's a bummer! Glad you're up and running again! Good luck & God bless!

Hey Folks! Welcome to the forum and congratulations! We have a similar story...we went to Arizona, rented a Class C for almost a month and fell in love it with; both the state and RV lifestyle. Within in year we bought our first {and current} rig and really love it. There will be problems as you've already seen, but there are always problems no matter what you're doing.
We have found loads of helpful people on this site with tons of experience. We hope your family has a great time in your camping experiences...I'm sure your kids will carry those memories forever.
Good luck and safe travels!

Welcome!
You could have chosen a lot of other things to get hooked on that wouldn't have been as much fun...

You'll find Ohio has a lot of really nice State Park Campgrounds throughout the state. We almost exclusively camp the state parks.

This link will get you there.

Since your from Northern Ohio area, I'm sure you know many of the Ohio State Parks have "themed" weekends coming up. There are fall campouts, Halloween campouts, Soup weekends......usually in May West Branch has a "Big Foot" weekend....The Halloween weekends have become so popular, many of the campgrounds run it for two back-to-back weekends.

We have reserved weekends at West Branch and Mohican over the next few weeks. We have camped Thanksgiving weekends 3 times in the last 7 years at a Ohio State Park....

Welcome to the group. The excitement will be there for a long time and the memories you make with the family will also last forever. Camping is one of the best family adventures one could have. Good luck with the new truck and have many great times with the family. Safe trouble free travels.
