Horns Quit Blowing
My air horns hadn't been working in months so I decided to see what was going on... It was the solenoid. Corrosion set in and it was stuck closed. After unplugging two wires, I took the solenoid off and cleaned thoroughly. Even got carried away and cleaned the motor and pump. After re-installing it, and had about 125psi air pressure, I used a direct wire from my battery to activate the solenoid and the air horns honked! Hooked up the two wires and hmmm..NO HORNS AT ALL...
After checking every fuse on the MH, I called a friend to help. He found a relay not working..Replacing that $13 relay fixed the problem. But how was it that the relay decided to stop working at that point in time I'll never know.
It had some corrosion on the terminals..
That particular relay was also used under the hood for another reason. Not sure but according to what I read, that relay has many uses.

If they are Hadleys then you will have solenoid problems in the future.
I disassembled and cleaned my solenoid three times before finding one at a RV store with a $29 price tag on it. That's cheap!
I bought it and replaced it and it's been fine for three years now.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. Glad the problem is solved. May that be the worst one you ever have.

It's always something but it's good to know most of the issues can be fixed
easily with a little patience and team work..LOL...

Hi Arch, I'll check into getting a new solenoid. Maybe I can find a new one to keep on hand but the real problem is in the moisture coming in from the compressed air. If there was only a way to dump that black tank from time to time.
Oh and yes, I bought hadleys.. They do sound awesome..

The park I'm in is WAY north of the Mason-Dixon line, I mean (Michigan) Way North. Some {description deleted} here in the park has a golf car with a "Dixie" horn, you know the one Way down yonder.....
I'd love to see it stop working.

Hi Mike! Welcome to IRV2! Glad you got the horn problem fixed. We have a son and his family that live in Slidell and try to get down there about once ever three months to visit with them. We stay at the Pine Crest RV Park. Good luck & God bless!
