Howdy from SA Texas

Hello everyone my name is Al.
I'm 53 years old, First Time camper owner. I decided just to do something different, my wife passed away 7 months ago, I just didn't want the house anymore, in fact I've become more of a minimalist, I gave my house away to my daughter.

I work as a bereavement coordinator for a local hospice.

I hope to use this platform as a way to gain knowledge from you folks who are probably more experienced with campers and RVs than I am.

I do have two questions, I recently installed a new AC unit 13.5 BTUs will this be enough for my camper it's 27 ft long no slide outs?

Also what is the best way to paint the cabinets, I purchased a no sanding primer and I've painted several of the cabinets with a few coats but I just don't think it looks that good.

Thank you and have a blessed day everyone

Thank you for your involvement with Hospice.

We had a 29 ft Class C and one 13.5K unit was iffy during the day in Oklahoma when parked in the sun. A friend had a second unit installed in the bedroom and wired to the back wall. When he needs it he using a separate heavy duty ext. cord and plugs it straight into the pedestal.

I've had pretty good luck painting cabinets and the prep seems to be the hardest part.

Hi Al! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

So sorry for your loss. Congrats on the new rig! I'm sure you will wish you had bought a 15K A/C unit.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

First I'm sorry for you loss.

A single 13.5 unit will keep you okay, IF, you can find shade when you are camped. If temps are high and no shade you might have to wait until sunset to get it cooled adequately.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry for your loss and congrats on the new rig and lifestyle change.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. Read the various threads and ask questions as they come up or add info if you can.

I think you will find the AC unit a bit anemic for your needs. We had a 25 foot class C with a 15K AC and it barely kept up in the hot 95-100 degree heat in AZ during the summer.

I am also a fan of a light sanding before redoing any cabinet work.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!
