HOWDY! New member from Austin Texas!
Hello all-
My name is Rochelle and my husband and I just bought our very first RV. Its a 1995 Southwind Fleetwood (25,000 original miles on it). We are going to pick it up next weekend and try it out for the first time then. We are super excited about this.
We have 3 dogs and looking forward to traveling with them. Im very excited about redecorating my new RV. Any tips will be appreciated...

Three of the four units we've bought over the years were used and in the under 25000 mile range. The last one was real low at less than 3,000, but that doesn't happen often. There are a lot of sug sections to read and enjoy here.

I'm near Austin and have one large dog.
I'd recommend taking a few short "shake down" trips and gradually expand your range. Also know that large V8 and V10 RVs can have trouble staying cool when it's really warm out and you're on the road... The motor is like a big floor heater.
Most gensets are rated to 120 degrees and it can be hotter than that above the pavement in the afternoon...

As has been sugested before, Camp in the driveway for a nite or two. You might think I need this or that from the house. Saves from stopping at Wal Mart or the rv store on the very first trip

Great idea
I LOVE THE IDEA OF CAMPING IN THE DRIVEWAY!
We are doing a one night stay next weekend on the land of the owners that we buying it from. They are really nice.
I also like the idea of taking short trips and expanding. Especially with 3 dogs. This is going to be very different for them, and I am really looking forward to it.
I do have some ideas of a few things that I want to do to this RV. First off, I wanna tear out the carpeting. Put in some laminate flooring. With 3 dogs, carpeting is just a pain in the rear.
2nd, the backup camera on this rig is broken. I want to get that replaced.
and one day in the future, I would like to look into some solar power if its not too expensive. I will have to get that done for me 'coz there is NO way that we can do that ourselves.
If anyone knows of anyone in south austin that can do any of those things feel free to let me know....thanks in advance.
