Post I'am Bocha; a old man from argentine.

I'll introduce myself:
Friends usually call me "Bocha", a nickname my grandparents gave me because they cut my hair almost flush and my head looked like a billiard ball.
I am Argentinean, son of Spanish parents; I live in the countryside, near La Pampa. I am an agro-industrialist. I am passionate about the outdoor lifestyle; although I am already 70 years old, I still plan to buy an RV in the U.S.A. and bring it back to my country.
Of course, I have a lot of doubts and I've never really been able to clear them up. That's why, I decided to venture into a specialized forum. I hope to find some answers here.
Thank you.

Welcome to iRV2 .

I'm sure members can help with questions about your purchase of an RV.

But transporting it to South America , will be a challenge.

Hope we can guide you through this .

¡Hola! Bocha,

Wow! What an adventure you're planning.

Here's an interesting short blog about a camper van adventure in South America: https://www.goboony.com/blog/south-a...ge-s-adventure

Although it may seem like there are an insurmountable number of challenges, I'm reminded of the old saying, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!"

Hopefully you'l fine encouragement and advice on this forum about how best to eat the elephant.

Take care,
Stu

Welcome aboard. I'm 75 and still doing a lot of traveling in our RV so I think you'll do fine.

I believe you could drive your new RV to South America. I've gone under the bridge at the Panama Canal so I know you can go over the top of it into South America.

Sounds like a fun trip!!

Well, there's a gap between southern Panama and northern Colombia.

Here's an interesting read about crossing the Darien Gap: https://www.aswesawit.com/cross-the-darien-gap/

Take care,
Stu

Greetings. I suspect because of a lot of things your looking at a small motor home. For you a Sprinter based motor home should work. Since Mercedes is sold and serviced world wide that would be the ideal. At least to me. Or do you want something bigger?

I’m curious about what type and size as well. And this journey would be a great story to follow if you posted your progress and experiences along the way.

Thank you, Stu.
Actually, I'd rather have a steer rib than an elephant, it's just, I don't have any proper trays to serve it.
One hug and, uh, I'll see that link that, uh, you left me.

Well, the idea is to buy it in the USA and, put it on a boat that, takes it to Chile or, to Uruguay. I don't think I'll find it easy to import it from Argentina.
My plan is not to travel around South America (it's not the right place to risk your life with a 40ft RV), plus there's no infrastructure, no parking lots, no campsites, etc. Nor is it usual to spend the night in a Wallmart, I don't think they allow it.
I plan to travel around Uruguay and spend my summers in the east of the country, which has very good places, good people, it is safe and the best beaches. But for the moment, we have to get through this pandemic and have patience to move.

I have a C motorhome, but I don't find it comfortable or convenient. A few years ago, I was in the United States and, I rented a Prevost A and, I went crazy. That's what I'm looking for, I also tried a Newmar King Air for a few days and that's a spaceship. I want that size!
