Idaho Newcomers
Good Morning!
We're brand new to the world of large travel trailers. We had a little ALiner and had good fun with it. But comfort and a basecamp where we can enjoy longer outings is now in our lives.
So we made some pretty large changes like trading a really nice Volvo for a pretty old Dodge diesel pickup (a move most people would never understand) and acquiring our new Outdoors RV 26RLS.
I'm Dave and I recently retired. So for a while I'll pull the trailer around the country showing my little Standard Schnauzer. Yes, learning to groom and show a dog is one thing that keeps me busy.
Lynne, my wife of 42 years, will retire in a year or two. Then we will have a chance to spend longer periods of time in the trailer.

So now we get to learn. How to maintain the trailer. What equipment do we need? How do we park this 31 foot monster?

If you have not watched The Long, Long Trailer and RV please do so. These are fun movies but do have a few clues as to what not to do.
Carry an extra potable water hose and dump hose. You never know when you may need more length or will spring a leak. Have electrical adapters along. Converting to fit the pedestal service is sometimes needed. Don't overload your trailer and make certain your tires are of good quality and load range. I see more trailers with flat tires than any other RV. Walkie talkies are a good idea when parking. The spotter can direct the pilot easier IF you learn to talk the same parking language. 
Hit the road and have fun. Been doing this for nearly 10 years. Love the life style. Just accept those not so pleasant moments as bumps in the road and keep on keeping on with new adventures.

Congratulations on your purchase. We bought the same and we love it. If there's any problems we have yet to discover them. We are envious of your plans to travel. Maybe someday we will be able to follow suit. But for now a weekend every once in a while will have to do.
As for parking the beast. The best trick I have to pass on is that when you pull the rig past the spot you intend on backing into. At the same moment the rear point of your rig passes where you want to turn; sharply turn your wheel so that the front of your pull car turns opposite the direction you want to back. Just pull it slightly more forward then spin the wheel back the other way before backing. By doing this little last minute trick you greatly decreases the room it takes to back into places.
