I'm New!

Hello to all you RV peeps. We are new to the RV world and would love to get some advice from you seasoned RVerS! We are actually looking at purchasing a used Class A diesel and wondered if anyone had some advice they would be willing to share. Info on the best used class A, insurance, how to navigate travel plans, should we join Good Sam or KOA, what's it like driving around in a RV all the time, do you like to go from place to place or do you like to stay put more? I have so many questions and would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom from as many of you as I can.

Thanks so much

Welcome aboard iRV2
I'm sure you will many and varied responses.
The "best" MH is the one that satisfies YOUR needs best. I dont mean to be obtuse but everyone has their own styles, needs and wants so...
A good place to start it to define - write down (as best you can at this point):
How will you use it... wkend / week long trips of a few 100 miles very different than months and 1,000 mi on the road.
Your budget
What are your must haves (can't live without)
What are your wants (but could live without some)
What are your Don't Wants

Now have your SO / partner (if applicable)
Do the same and write it down
Then compare & compromise (trust me... do it her way or at least pay very close attention to her lists)

Then go look at as many as you can and talk to as many owners as you can (visit CGs and walk around and look and strike up conversations) Ask How they use it, what they like about their rig, what would they change if they could?
Keep your list handy and compare what you see t o how well they satisfy YOUR NEEDS. & WANTS

Then you can narrow your lists of possibles and start looking for "your best" MH.

When we started RVing w/ a DIY van conversion and even our first real Cl A MH we tended to cover more miles and shorter stays (a day to few days)
Now that we are retired and can pretty much make our own schedule we stay longer weeks / month unless we are trying to just get someplace. Even then we rarely stay only 1 nite when traveling.
We like to plan a trip but not have a schedule. We do make reservations for busy times & places but often only for a few days ahead.

Nice to have you here with us.

You are asking a lot of questions that would take a short novel to answer. Your best bet is to ask a specific question in an appropriate forum. Everyone here will be very glad to help. Pick the right forum and ask as many questions as you want to.

Welcome to the forum.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good information to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add information if you can.

Congrats on the upcoming purchase. We have a few things we wanted, like a Washer/Dryer, fireplace, extra AC unit to name a few. Look at as many brands and coaches as you can, test drive one or two and remember floor plan is most important as this is where you are going to live (Full time or weekend warrior. We Full time and like to move about and usually stay 4 days to a couple of weeks in one place before moving on.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Rent an RV and go for a short trip. You will soon determine your like and dislikes and it will cost a lot less than jumping in with both feet.
