Imagining Good Times!

Newbies to IRV2!

We picked up our travel trailer July 2021 and have taken a few successful trips so far. We’ve also done a number of upgrades, including a solar/battery upgrade that gives us the “power” to have more freedom of choice on where to stay.

We’re looking forward to an extended trip to the southeast soon and figure we just need to get on with it and learn how to handle situations as they come along.

I’m looking forward to learning from the group and sharing what I know!

Welcome to the group. We just upgraded to full rig solar, giving us the options to park in other places. I would suggest looking into Harvest Host for a source of places to park for travel times.

Thanks! We actually took advantage of some Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome opportunities this summer. We went for a seven night solar break in trip in June and stayed four nights at Boondockers Welcome locations and one at a Harvest Host location. The other two were at a campground my brother summers at. The solar worked like a charm! At one point during a drive, the 1,200 watts of panels actually produced 1,334 watts… pretty cool! So for seven nights on the road we spent $70 for the two nights at my brother’s campground… $35/night. Sweet! Looking forward to more of that!
