“Nobody goes there anymore; it’s too crowded.”
- Yogi Berra -

I agree with the posts about boondocking, lack of cell coverage, and a more versatile rig. We traded our MH for that reason. While we may not have a lot of solitude where we park the trailer, our tow vehicle gets us away from the park to quieter places for day trips.

There are many lakes is AZ that have actual campgrounds near the water, but they can get crowded. Two years ago I tried to boondock on Lake Powell at Lone Rock beach, but it was closed because of Covid., so I'll try that again sometime.

PM me if you want specific directions to any of these locations
Southwest of Laramie WY there are a series of lakes along Hw 230 that have a lot of open boondock sites. I rode thru that area last summer, but didn't camp there because I was with a group camping at another area close by. But I will prolly return some time. I think this is Lake Hattie with the Snowy Range in the far background:

Lakes and other water bodies in the west that can be reached via a Class A are likely to be crowded near the weekends. Somewhat less so in the middle of the week. More difficult it is to drive to it fewer people you may encounter. Hence the idea of a 4 x 4 pickup with camper on back or smaller trailer towed by a 4 x 4.

In some ways an ideal setup would be a Class A with a pickup/camper combo as a toad.

There are plenty of places all over the west you can find quite but need a more nimble RV setup.

Go West young man. But stop before you get to CA. Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, the Dakotas.

Yes, Wyoming has the perfect combo of lots of public lands that allow boondocking, 97,000 square miles of space and only 576,000 residents

I would also add the eastern halves of Oregon and Washington and western Nebraska to Brian's list.
