introductory post as specified
Hello- I am posting this as my initial introductory info, I am "retired", marched out of my office at gunpoint, now undertaking traveling with a motorhome. I (we) have a 94 Winnebago Adventurer, 29 ft. on Chev P30 platform. When I got it there was no refrigerant in the AC system, the kwikee steps didn't work, and the transmission was overfilled to the top with fluid. I have since experimented with transmission fluid level and in the course of a 1600 mile trip found that my transmission does not appear to shift up under load on any kind of uphill incline unless there are a couple of extra quarts of trans fluid in the pan. So far it appears some sort of sensor replacement on the trans will be required or I will be consigned to inching up inclines ( less than 20 degrees) at 35 mph, and with no possible option of towing anything at all. I was told that gasoline engine motorhomes are hilariously underpowered, and that this was a contributing factor. I believe I have a 4l80e hydramatic trans. I am now replacing my blower motor which went out the evening before my first trip, and trying to secure the side door, which is obviously poorly executed in that the weight of the door is much too heavy for the sheet metal screws into thin fiberglass method which is Winnebago's standard OP. Stop me when you've heard enough. My family was terrified on the second day of our trip when we were traveling I-90 in SD trying to get to Rapid City on a hot day with no AC, and I was drizzling along at illegally low speed because the transmission would not shift into third going uphill. They wanted to fly home and leave me with the busted motorhome.

Welcome to RV land! They all need some kind of work. You just have to get to know your RV and keep up with the repairs. It's like driving your house down the highway. Stuff breaks, and you fix it.

Keep at it, you will eventually get the Winnie in great shape. And, from your signature, I see you are a member of the Winnebago club which should be a great resource.

Good luck with your new venture! Just got my 96 Fleetwood Bounder on a Chev chassis back from the transmission shop. MY two cents, or nickel as it is Canadian, find a transmission guy you feel right about and get that 4L80E fixed before it becomes very expensive.
I have had mine for 10 months now and hope that all the initial things are behind us.
