Joined 2 years ago to learn about RVing, but now we are doing it!
Hi,
Neal Davis of Ooltewah, Tennessee here. I joined 2 years ago when we were researching what RV to buy, but, because we didn't actually own an RV or camp, I never posted a message here. My wife and I are both from the southeastern U.S., me from Tennessee and she from Alabama. We moved from metro Washington, DC three weeks ago to live near my parents, who are in their late 80s, so that I can look after them and be more available should they need me; 5 minutes away rather than 10 hours.
We bought a 2016 American Revolution diesel pusher last summer and have regularly had it at Camping World of Chattanooga (Ooltewah is about 5 minutes NE of the city limits) over the last 10 months having warranty work done. We now live in the RV and will until our house is built. Our second "camping" trip is planned for Father's Day weekend with my wife's parents who also have an RV. Once the house is finished (builder thinks that we'll be in it by, or shortly after, Thanksgiving), then we'll travel in the RV as much as half-time, depending on the health of our parents (my wife's parents are about 75 minutes away and are in their 70s).
We're both still working at our old jobs, but remotely. I'll be full-time until I retire; the current plan is that I'll retire in mid-January 2018. My wife is part-time and plans to continue until the end of April 2018. So long as we have a good cell signal, then we can work. Lacking that, then we have to take time off, or go somewhere with a good signal.
Thanks to all of you who are members of iRV2. I have gotten lots of great information from the various forums over the past 2 years and I'm sure that I'll get much more in the future.

Welcome and congrats on the new rig and new lifestyle. I certainly understand about elderly parents and their needs. We lost both our moms last year and living 2000 miles away was tough. One of both of us was on a plane every month spending time "helping and enjoying their company". I wish you luck
