This is our third summer using it and that’s exactly what we’re doing! We’ve been averaging 40+ nights a year and over 6K miles. So far this year our tires have hit 15 states, we’ve slept in 9 (5 of them being new), and visited 3 National Parks. Our longer hauls have been to Hot Springs National Park, Pictured Rocks, and Portland Maine area. Hailing from Chicago suburbs we are excited to find this forum in hopes of finding traveling advise and best routes for our Class A motorhome as we continue to explore.

First thing I would do is edit your profile with what your rig is and if you have a toad. Set it so it sows in your signature every time you post.
Sounds like you pretty well have it figured out. Sounds like your younger with kids. Also since your doing state and National parks you don’t sound like RV resort type campers. With a smaller rig like you have you can get into more places than even people with TT and 5er’s can.
Being from Chicago have you thought about doing a Route 66 trip. And how about Mexico. I winter there and can give you information on how to go and what you need and how to enter. Yes, I feel safer there than I do in Chicago.
South Dakota is always a must see. I would allow at least 3 days to get to the Black Hills stopping once in Minnesota, once in mid South Dakota, and on to the Black hills. Unless you biker fans just avoid the Sturgis rally an 2 weeks either side.
The possibility’s are endless. Stay off the interstate as much as possible unless you want to get to a destination quickly without doing tourist stuff. Try and keep your days under 300 miles. Stop and see the sights. The kids will remember for a lifetime. I have really fond memories of trips I took in the 60’s. Even sleeping in a tent, back of a station wagon, or pulling a 18 Mallard with a 63 Buick.
