Just Another Newbie

Hi Everyone
We are Canadians and new to RV'ing. We are retired (3yrs now) and hope to go south this winter with our pets. We are 62 and love the outdoors and of course our pets. We are thinking about travelling to Texas and then take it slow across the lower Gulf States to Florida. We will likely be away 2-3 months not sure. Anyone do this trip before? Was it nice and is the weather warm January-March?

Anyone suggest anything special we should see and do?

Thanks
Dustyjo

We basically just head to Florida in the winter from Michigan. We stay in central Fl. The weather is nice., although there may be a few nights below freezing, the days are nice. We have been going for 6 years and only take motorcycles for transportation while there, so that should be a good indication of general weather.

Can't speak for TX or the gulf states, but certainly way better then amywhere in Canada

Thanks so much for your response. We are looking forward to going south for the warmer weather. We have been avid snowmobilers for years and plan to give it up this year for another adventure. We too may take our Motorcycle for ease of getting around. Again I appreciate you getting back to me.

Enjoy your winter.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We took the trip you're describing when we first started full time in 2009 and had a great time. The weather was nice but I wouldn't call it warm... except maybe in mid day.

We worked our way through Texas around Thanksgiving and ended up in Florida for a Space Shuttle launch in early April.

Best of luck

Rick
