Laminate vs carpet 2002 Adventurer

As a newbie to The Forum, I'm interested in hearing opinions on replacing carpet with wood laminate in our 2002 Winnebago. I have read about problems with the slides. Can a person who installs home flooring do this or does it take an RV specialist? I really want to get this done but I want it to look good and work well when finished.

Thanks for ideas.

First, Welcome to the group!! Extra knowledge is always handy.

My carpet was replaced by wood/vinyl, which I love. Except the front roller on the slide has rubbed through the surface of the vinyl, in one spot, when the slide is in. To clean vinyl you need a broom which is much easier to store than a vacuum.

I put laminate in our last rig but I think I will put some sort of vinyl in this one when it's time. The laminate looked like a million for the first 5-6 years, but gradually it started to show the seams more and more.
Either a single piece of vinyl or vinyl tiles are on the agenda. There are so many very nice, high end looking ones to choose from, that I see no reason to go with wood.
Happy Glamping.

I'm concerned about the rollers. Have read on line that this is a problem. I definitely want to get the old carpet out. Thanks for your reply.

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

Unless you have a seasoned installer who has done floor replacements on RVs before. I would seek out an RV installer who knows what they have to do to give you the install you want.

Happy Trails!!!

Either do an internet search or call a few dealers in your area see who they recommend. Even if you had to travel a bit it would be worth it.

I have heard there are different slides / glides rollers for carpet vs vinyl or porcelain tile.
I also believe a good refit shop that does this will know and be able to change them.
