Life long RV owner (I am old)
Thank you for the welcome, like so many I sort of stumbled onto this site while looking to resolve a problem. I have always done my own work on RV's but now the technology and old age is making it difficult. I started camping in the fifties with a tent, campgrounds were springing up every where. My uncle often tells of a time when he checked into a campground and the owner simply said go over there and clear yourself a spot. There was a tradition long ago when you left a campsite you would leave behind a can of beans and a tea bag. This was in case some was traveling through without anything and they could start a fire warm up the beans, rinse out the can and make a cup of tea. I don't think that was an old wives tale, I never did it, so camping has come a long way and I like to think it is a good getaway even if it is just to breakup the monotony of everyday life. Now a good site has to have wifi.
Looking forward to participating with you all.
Later, Fitwogg

Well as a matter of fact My Onan generator kicked but wouldn't run yesterday and after a day of research I found it is a 4-1 code which looks pretty bad. I am searching for an Onan service center here in Massachusetts. Anyone in the great Northeast have any recommendations?

I received some good advice today and I am happy to pass it along to you members.
Problem #1 the furnace wouldn't light.
Problem #2 generator would try to start but stops, it shows a 4-1 code which is bad, very bad.
Happy news, I was sure the generator needed major work so I was prepared to wait till we landed in Fla. (we are snowbirds). Traveling down in late Oct. we need the heat, we stay at Flying J most of the time. Brought the rig to my favorite RV repairer. Almost expecting to have to replaces the furnace it is old enough to drive.
Problem was the propane regulator, Here is how to find out the regulator is bad. Light the gas stove and note the height of the flames, they should come over the top of the grates. If the flame looks good, mine did, turn on the furnace or the water heater. If the flame drops a lot it is most likely the regulator diafram has collapsed. Because the stove does not use much gas, but the furnace and water heater need a lot to start and run. The regulator isn't putting out enough volume.
The real good news, when it came back both the furnace and the generator are now working. How often does that happen boys and girls!??!.
