Looking at a 2004 Komfort 28TSR

Hello from west Texas! We are retired and our youngest just graduated so we are excited to get our first RV and travel occasionally. My husband wants to camp at Bonita Lake in Ruidoso, NM as one of our first trips. I have a 2007 Ford Expedition and the dealership said that it should pull this trailer with no problems.

We wanted to start out with a motor home but haven't found one that we really thought would be a great starter one for us. We did find this one: 1997-Winnebago-Minnie-21ft but believe that it is a scam. There is an oil boom going on and RVs are at a premium in our area.

The RV we have found that both of us like is a 2004 Komfort 28TSR. It appears to be in good shape and has the features we like.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have never done this.

Thanks,

found this advertisement .... Although not the same year the background looks a lot like the OPs advertisement. 1998 Winnebago Minnie Winnie For Sale Review The OPs picture looks like a summer shot....the other one looks like a spring shot.....Definitely different models but the background looks the same

Welcome to the irv2 gang! You picked a great set of forums to ask questions and pick up information. Folks here were a great help as we researched our motorhome purchase (took us the better part of a year). I'm not familiar with the unit you mentioned, but there will be others that will offer some input. Good luck with your search and retirement travels!

We feel it is a scam for more than one reason. One: the motor home is in Augusta, Me but is advertised in the Craigslist in west Texas and not the local one. The price is only $2300. The owner said that she has made arrangements thru Ebay to ship it to Texas for no charges. Payment to be made 5 days after delivery. It is not listed on Ebay, either but I did find the same pictures she sent me in the email online at the link I posted. She will not disclose a phone number for her. Her husband's number is in the ad but he won't answer the phone, just will text that it is hers and gives her email. We were under the understanding by the ad that the RV was local. She didn't answer my emails when we were in town and when she finally did answer them, it was as if she never read them because she sent another initial email introducing herself and sending the pictures of the RV. We were hoping that it was for real, but with the oil boom, it would be gone in a heartbeat for that price.

You are correct, the pictures in the link you sent appear to have been taken at the same location as the link that I found. That really has me questioning things. There is no contact info in the one you sent nor in the one I found online for the 1997. Oh well, I like the Komfort TT better!

Howdy from SC and welcome to the forums. We have a 2011 Expedition and bought a 34' V-cross TT which it had no problem towing except for a nasty sway I couldn't get rid of. Found out the short wheel base of the Ford was the culprit. No great loss for us because we traded the TT for our MH and got back almost every penny we paid for it.

Welcome to the Forums; hope you find the perfect RV for you. I'm not going to say the ad for the '97 Winnie is a scam, but the same unit is/was for sale in Montana 1997 Winnebago Minnie for sale in Hamilton, Montana, Usa - Used RVs For Sale for $9K (same pics, same mileage, same VIN). There is a Montana phone number for contact, as well. If it were me, I'd go with a gut feeling and look at some other units.

P.S. Do your own homework about towing...NEVER let a salesman tell you what you can tow.

Thank you for your input about the Expedition. The trailer we are considering is 28 ft instead of 34 so hopefully that will make a difference.

Thank you very much. I really felt like that would be a scam. I appreciate your input. Once I found out the unit was in ME, the red flags went up. Why try to sale it in west Texas if you are in Maine? We aren't going to pursue it any further. We will stick with units we can see in person!
