Lots of learning experiences!!

Hi there! We are new to the rv world. But after the kids left home and wanted a simpler life we decided rv life was for us! We love it!! However we have had quite a few learning experiences as I will call them. We bought a used 2015 Dutchmen aerolite 319bhss. Has 2 rooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Parked it at a local very nice rv park. Our neighbor said you need a surge protector! We thought probably a good idea then BAM! Major power surge blew out the furrion CD/DVD/radio out, our main a/c, and waste water control panel! So thank goodness I have a very tech savvy hubby and he fixed the a/c long enough to get a new control board! We do live in TEXAS can't go without the a/c even for a few minutes! So having to replace one by one all the other things. We go to move to a new spot in the rv park and well heck we can't get 2 of the slides to go in! Finally realized somehow were affected by the surge also!! 😩 So now have order 2 new motors and let's hope and pray it works!! So as we are working on the slides we notice at the top of the slide outside the whole top right of it has come off the main frame! Screws completely broke off! So gotta figure that one out! But other than that we love our life!! Had many more issues in a house and so much more expense!! The thought of living in a house again is so not appealing anymore!! We now have many family members that are thinking about it! I'm going to post the slide out problem I guess under another thread. Happy rv'ing!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Disappointing I'm sure! The power surge is one thing, out of control of the manufacture. I am a newbie as well but seems these rigs come out of the factory with bugs and gremlins which take a while to sort out. This is all based on reading I have done and the log if warranty repair tickets we have on the one we bought!

Good luck!
