Message from a new member

Hello everyone, I am new at this and trying to figure out how to get things done. I own a 2000 Monaco Knight and hope no one else ever has the touble I have with this MH. Everything from the transmission, engine, slide butain gas leak, converter power outlets, speedometer, odometer, radio, exhaust fans,. Now I am trying to find a wiring diagraam so that I can fix the inverter power. Inverter is producing power and it is going to the breaker but not to the recpticals. I have spent $11,000.00 or more trying to get some of stuff fixed. I tried to get the co. to send a diagram but that was 6 years ago and nothing. The dealer wants $600.00 just to check it out. I need some HELP. Where can I get some.

By "butain" I assume you mean a propane gas leak. This can usually be resolved by disassembling the joint and using the proper assembly method, or replacing a hose if that's the problem. The converter changes 115 VAC to 12 VDC so it powers no receptacles in the coach except those that are 12 VDC plus it's responsible for charging the batteries. If you have 115 VAC to the hot side of the breaker, and nothing on the other then either the breaker is faulty or it's a wiring problem. But you don't say if it's all the circuits or just one. It sounds as though there was a good deal of deferred maintenance on this coach, but with some determination and resolve you can get it in shape and enjoy your labor.

Marv- if your inverter produces 120V and you can verify that at the inverter side of a breaker, but you have no power @ receptacles,
1st I'd check every receptacle for a GFCI; if you have ground fault interruption on a receptacle it is probably the first in a line (wired in series thru the GFCI outlet) and the interruptor is tripped. Push the button to see if it resets. I had an 84 Winnie (or was it the 96 Trek?) that had a GFCI in the basement, which was not so easy to get to or see, and when it tripped it killed power to stuff in the coach. Now I have a bathroom outlet that kills the kitchen plugs when tripped. I'd check this first cuz its a common "problem" till you know where to look each time.
If you have searched high, low, front, back, up & down, diagonally & in a mobius fashion, and are certain there are no GFI circuits causing your greif, then #2 check the wire connections at the breaker, the breaker itself, and then trace the wire from breaker to receptacles taking care @ each point to verify voltage present or not. In the Trek I had one receptacle that fed another; in the back there was one of those thin insulation-slice type connectors that are supposed to slice insulation on a wire then grab the copper in between two sides of a narrow slot; well the insulation wasn't very well sliced & the thing didn't contact when contitions were just right (i.e. when I needed the dead outlet). You may have some other continuity problem down the line from the breaker. Breakers can go bad, and their connection to the panel can go bad as well; if the panel buss blade has corrosion that may be the issue.
Those are some ideas to get you started.

Marvin, welcome to iRV2.com. Sorry to hear of the problems you are having but it looks like you have some help on the way. Try to give us as much detail about a problem so we can better help you. Are you familiar and comfortable working with electricity? Take care and keep your chin up.
