Hi Gina,

Most of the military, state parks and national parks have time limits on how long you can stay at a time then you have to leave for a period of time before they will let you stay again. Your best bet would be to find a privately owned park and maybe working for them in return for a space for your trailer. Some of them will even pay a small salary depending on how much work you have to do. This is a good site to check Opportunities for Workamping (or Work Camping) -- over 175 sites in 12 states .

As for home schooling you can check with the local schools to find out what is required.

Good luck with your decision.

Jon

I don't know your financial situation but if it were me I would make the big purchase(s) (Truck/trailer) before you retire and still look like you have your full income.

Hi, you sound like a candidate for work camping. The owner of the Military Campgrounds web site listed below is retired from the USAF. He and his wife established the web site about 14 or 15 years ago. They have supplemented his military retirement income by work camping and dry camping all around the country.

You can join the site - it’s free - and pick his brain about his experiences with work camping and boon docking.

When you click on the site below the first two pictures on the right - Laughlin AFB FAMCAMP & NAS Lemoore RV park - are pictures of our trailer. When you browse around in that link you will find pictures of our rig at all the military campgrounds we have parked at. We have been members there for about 14 years.
