Welcome Nervy and good luck!

The wife and I are a few years from retirement and looked for a while. We found the motorhome (new) we wanted when we were trolling through the dealership and had asked to see every class A that was less then 33 feet (to fit our driveway). She sat down in our rig after seeing the one I thought we'd be getting and she declared the floor plan made sense and she liked it - we then ordered one the exact way we wanted it....

My first piece of advice: DRIVE IT. Drive it for a long time. Make SURE on a smooth road you have a smooth, vibration-free ride. It will be harsher than a car on bumps. It should be smooth all-the-way up and down the speed range. Drive it at 40. Drive at 70. But do drive it and don't ignore vibration or be talked-into the old "these things drive like this". Smooth ride on a smooth road. Period. You can read about other handling issues on these forums as well. Most seem to be handled okay by a track bar, safety steer system and the "Cheap Handling Fix" if it's a Ford chassis.

Second piece of advice: DON'T buy ANY motorhome until all issues are corrected before you write a check. Completely Refundable deposit ONLY if one is required.

Third: Find an RV Tech or an inspector and have the rig checked completely. It sounds like many folks who buy rigs (new or used) from dealerships get stuck with major issues they weren't expecting and that should have been caught and corrected by the dealer's "200 point inspection". Get your own inspection.

Finally, when you find something, come back to this forum - the folks here can give you great advice and things to check out before you pull the trigger.

Happy Hunting!
