New 5th wheeler in the house

Hello everyone, I am new to the 5th wheel world. Just inherited a 29 RE Cedar Creek by Forest River. Going on my first trip on Valentine's weekend. Have to admit I am a little nervous about pulling this beast. I have pulled trailer and campers for 20 years but never a 5th wheel. Is there anything I should know ahead of time or advice you seasoned veterans can give me before my maiden voyage. Thx and I look forward to being a part of this group!

Greetings. All I can offer is that I sure hope you have enough truck? Forest Rivers upper lines are notorious for being pin heavy. My Cedar Creek 34CKTS which is a similar size tipped the scales with almost 3000 pounds pin weight.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new Cedar Creek! We pulled a Cedar Creek 36RLTS for ten years before getting the MH. Loved it! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

What 450Donn said ^^^^^^^

. . . and you'll find that when backing, since the hitch is in the bed and not the bumper, the trailer isn't as responsive to steering. There's no overhang behing the rear axle like with a bumper-pull.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the replies everyone! Just pulled it to my house for the first time to get it cleaned up. Definitely not like backing my enclosed work trailer! Took a few tries to get it into my driveway but starting to get used to the way it turns. I have a F250 diesel and it seems to handle pretty well. Thx again and I am sure I wi be on here alot in the coming weeks with tons of questions.
