That old unit with a tag tells me the chassis is marginal at best. Plus it's over 20 years old, so I guess it would fit the bill of "an older Holiday Rambler". I guess I was not considering that old of a unit. You had better have anything you consider in that age range checked thoroughly by a qualified mechanic.

It appears the dual axle is too far forward, thus the need for a tag to carry the weight in the rear. It appears these were shorter chassis that were stretched so the tag was added to try to carry the additional weight in the rear.

My understanding is you would take an old RV like that to a shop that works on 18 wheelers & such for frame & suspension inspection.

My point was there are shorter RVs out there with tag axles allowing us to load them up with supplies.
