New from Huntley, IL
Well, we became RVers in August. Picked up the Fleetwood Bounder 33U from General RV. Went to a campground about 8 miles from our house. The intention was that we were close enough to come home if we needed to. EVrything went well. We discovered a whole bunch of things about RVing.("It ain't tenting" as we sat in the air conditioning and watched cable tv) Whole new world!! Fridge didn't work.lost 3 porterhouse steaks and 2 nice slabs of salmon. Took it back to General RV where it has been sitting for 3 weeks. General RV says they ordered the parts from Fleetwood ,who does not stock, Fleetwood ordered from Dometic, who does not stock, and they don't know when the parts will come in and... they don't know if the ordered parts will fix the fridge.. So it looks like we will be getting it in time for winterizing and wait til Spring. So far, we "looking forward" to RVing, someday.

Still lots of time use the unit once fixed. I hope you have better luck. I love to RV and I have many great memories RVing. When you have time read as much as you can on your MH, as many problems will be things you can fix on your own. The dealer told me I would have to wait about 1 week for them to repair my roof top AC.
My Coleman 15,000 btu roof top unit needed to be repaired, the dealer wanted almost $300.00. I went online purchased a Brand new unit $552.00 waited 2 days for delivery. The project to remove and replace took about 1 hour as they only have 4 bolts holding the unit to the roof. This was easy with no special tools needed. Now I have a new unit with 2 year warr. instead of a repaired unit with 90 days warr on the repaired items only. When you look at the cost of the repair vs cost of a new unit sometimes RR is best so you will not have another lost trip due to the old unit failing again. You will see you can still due alot of maint. and repairs without garage full of tools.
I still have my old unit that could be fixed or sell to someone on ebay that wants it for parts as most parts are still good on the unit I removed.
Most times you will save alot of money and have more time to use your MH. I want to get the most use from my MH, so I do lots and lots of maintaince to avoid breaking down on the road. I do all maintance and most all of repairs on my own but I have a lot of specialized tools.
Hope you enjoy your MH and have tons of fun.

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about you having problems before really getting out the gate. You didn't say, but I'm guessing it was a used unit. I'm one my second used unit of the three I've bought and there are almost always some issues. I always make sure fridge and A/C have been turned on and operating at least 24 hours prior to walk through acceptance.

Welcome. Seems worse when it's new. Guess they weren't willing to pull from another unit.

Hi Jim & Bobbi! Welcome to IRV2! That's a real bummer, finding serious problems like that on your first trip out! Seems the dealer did not do a very good job of getting the rig ready to sell! Good luck & God bless!
