New from New Jersey. New Travel Trailer.

Hey all. My family and I are long time campers, and have been talking about joining the RV community for a while. We would like to get a motor coach upon retirement (about 10 years away) and felt it was important to get going with the experience as soon as possible. Since we have a good pickup truck already, we thought starting with a travel trailer was a great way to get started.

Before we bought anything we decided to stick a big toe in the RV waters, and booked a week long trip to the KOA in Niagara Falls Ontario. We wanted to make sure that we liked the campground lifestyle. We stayed in one of their basic Kamping Kabins, which we figured would be much less comfy than our eventual RV would be... so it would be a good measure of how we liked the campground environment. Well, we loved it. And my 11 year old son had a blast.

We had been casually looking around for an RV, but once we got back from the KOA, our search went into high gear. Our initial plan was to get an inexpensive used trailer, and upgrade to a better one after we figured out if we like it or not. But after doing some hardcore RV shopping, we decided that we wanted to do it correctly right out of the gate, so our initial experience was a great one! So a new trailer was the way to go.

We looked at a lot of units. And we found a brand new 2013 left over Forest River Wildwood 28 DBUD at a local dealer. The price was decent, and the dealer was reputable and very nice to work with. So yesterday we signed the papers and we pick it up next week. The trailer is quite well optioned, and has power everything. It even has a little touchscreen remote to work everything. Since I am a technology guy by trade, this was a nice feature for me.

We are looking very much forward to getting out for a few test runs to local campgrounds during what remains of the summer and fall seasons. Then we will hopefully hit it hard next year and do some long trips. Thanks for having me here!
