New from Ohio

My wife and I are new to RVing and found the forums to be a great place for information. We are starting "small" with a Laredo 294rk TT that we brought home last weekend. Looking forward to using it a lot next summer. Thinking about taking it next month to Myrtle Beach, but not sure about a 12 hour, week long outing is smart for our first adventure. How about it, would that be crazy???

Daddymike;

We are glad you found us. Congratulations on your decision to start camping. I can tell you it became addictive to me and I will continue as long as my health will permit. We have been to MB twice and plan to go a third time to our iRV2 Rally there in Sept 2014 I believe there is a lot to do there it would never get boring.

Post often and share your RV adventures with us.

We have had two "maiden voyages" and a couple of after major changes close to home (20 miles) weekend camping trips. This is to find things that will go wrong. I always carry a very complete tool kit and some spares. Since I did much of the wiring and modifications to the plumbing I am able to handle most problems. A sort trip close to home rather than a LONG trip...

I live right behind the KOA so if you get in trouble just yell!! Really I am separated by a fence. I used to stay the summer in the KOA full time until this year and we moved down to Myrtle full time and moved out. Just went this weekend and bought a Class C to start traveling around again. There is some really nice people there that can help you if you need it and I am not around.

I would suggest a few outings closer to home first. If you are located in northern Ohio two areas to visit are Maumee And Sterling State parks. Sterling is just across the border in M.I.. Unfortunately both are probably closed for the season.

It's not crazy... It's RVing. But I would take a couple of weekend jaunts to get used to everything. Welcome to the Forum and Happy Trails...
