New guy from Oregon (Texas originally)
Hello all. Just joined. About a month ago I bought a 1987 Country Camper motorhome. It is the 32' Praetor model. It has a Chevy 454 with a TH400 transmission. When I bought it, the transmission had no reverse. I drove it from Vancouver, Washington to Welches, Oregon before the Trans gave out. Got it home (Thanks AAA) and find out it has the wrong trans. I found a TH400 out of a 1973 C30. it appears in good shape. Any ideas on how to get more power or what to do about the trans?

Find a good trans shop, have it rebuilt and make arrangments with them to install it for you. More power? Lots of expensive add ons, sadly most of them make their power at high RPM. Not where you want it.

I'm not talking GOBS of HP here. Mostly more TQ for pulling this thing down the road. I was considering maybe a Edelbrock RPM Air-gap manifold, RV cam, MSD dizzy, and headers with 2.5" exhaust. Suggestions?
