New guy from SE Georgia

Hi everyone. I'm picking up my new to me 1996 Newmar Dutch Star (M-3455) tomorrow from a private seller. This is my second RV, I had a 1984 22' Georgie Boy a few years back, but I am still a novice RV'er. My wife and I decided to get another, but larger RV because we have a 13 year old son with autism and traveling has become more difficult. Once we get him used to this RV traveling will become a pleasure again. He loved the other one. He particularly enjoyed sitting in it in the driveway during thunderstorms.

The Newmar is in very good shape for its age. I spent 2 hours in it, on it, and under it over the weekend and only found 4 issues; steering feels stiff and 'lumpy', 2'x2' area of rot on roof where old ladder mounted, water heater tank has surface rust, exterior slide seal needs to be replaced. I believe the steering problem will be resolved when I get some grease into the u-joints. The seal will be an easy fix. The roof will be a major task but do-able. The water heater tank is an unknown. I won't know exactly what I'm dealing with until I get the insulation blanket off of it. He is a picture of it as it sits in the previous owners driveway.

Welcome Savannah Dan! The RV looks nice, good luck on the repairs. We plan on visiting the Savannah area in February for the 1st time. Looking forward to visiting such a historical town.
