I am new to owning RV's but can handle wrenching on just about anything. My wife and I bought a 2002 Itasca Horizon for a price of $25000. It needs some work, but is in "fair" condition.
We've camped in it a few times so far and have identified several items that need fixing and I plan to search here, and make many posts here.
Im in the military and deployed currently to Syria. But have big plans for when I get back. Planning a big 5000 mile trip when I get back. Gas prices
But I hope to address some of the problems with this RV before we go.
1. Both power awnings are inoperative
2. Rear Hydraulic Hose blown out (rear slide and left rear jack inop)
3. Engine Brake Actuator is disconnected and not working
4. The rear A/C duct (main duct going up the rear cap to the ceiling ducting) this main duct has had the insulation removed. I noticed after I repaired the AC unit. Im loosing a lot of efficiency due to this. Need a solution not sure what Im gonna do about that yet.
5. No known service history, therefore planning a full service (engine air/oil/fuel/serpentine belts/coolant flush, generator air/oil/fuel/coolant flush, brake air dryer service)
Anyways, I feel thankful to have this new RV. She is not in the best condition, but I plan to keep it long term. Usage and mission is mainly for racing and summer trips.
