New meat
Hi All, we are newbies, retired after over 50 years building homes, (except for 12 months at the University of South Vietnam 69-70), the last 26 on St. Croix. We just bought a 2008 Montana 2955rl in awesome shape. TV is a 2016 GMC Denali HD W/Duramax. Plan is some short runs the rest of this year, next year 2-3 months doing national parks out west. Looking forward to learning from more experienced RVers on this forum.

Howdy and WELCOME!!
One suggestion I always pass along....
Load truck and 5th wheel up 'camp ready' (everybody in truck, fuel, stuff in truck ---bags/backpacks etc and 5th wheel fully loaded/stocked ready to camp in---propane/water/stuff etc)
Then hit the CAT Scales for 2 weight tickets
1st one...truck/trailer combo ....truck steer axle/drive axle and trailer axles--total
Then go drop 5vr in parking lot and weigh truck only---steer/drive--total
Then you will know how close to Trucks GVWR, Axle Ratings, Tire Load Ratings, Trailer GVWR, Trailer Axle ratings and WET Pin Weight (Difference between the 2 weight tickets)
1st weigh is $12/15 ---reweigh within 24 hrs FREE
Lots of good info for very little time/effort and cost
Happy Camping!
