Good afternoon. We are just starting this new adventure in rv-ing. In fact, we don't even have an rv yet. We are going to look this weekend at a 1997 Winnebago Adventurer. All the pics that we've seen so far it "looks" like it's in great shape. No real wear inside, laminate flooring, clean. The problem is that the odometer is broken. We said we'd go look at it, but I would like an opinion on this. Like I said this is new for us and could use some guideance. Thank you in advance.

It is suspicious that the odometer is broken. You have no way of certifying the mileage. If it's being sold by a dealer get the name and phone of the previous owner to confirm what the miles are. Give them a call. If you're buying from an individual get an RV mechanic to look it over before you buy it. Better safe than sorry.

Welcome to irv2. Have they told you what the approx. mileage is ? If so you may be able to verify through maintenance records. I think it would be worth it to get a qualified mechanic to go over the engine to confirm its in good shape.
Good luck and please let us know how you made out.
Cliff

You might be able to get an idea by looking at service receipts they may have. I type to slow!

Welcome aboard and glad you joined us. Good luck and hope all turns out with your coach purchase. Take your time and as mentioned have someone look it over for you if you don't feel confident to do it yourself.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck in your search. Like others have mentioned, take it to your trusted auto shop for a complete look over, including a cylinder compression test. (Assuming it is a gasser).

Welcome and good luck with your purchase. Don't be afraid to walk away if you come across anything suspicious. There are lots of good used motorhomes out there.
