Hello everyone,
My wife and I are full-timing in a 2013 27' Lazy Daze Class C. Yesterday we bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Active Drive II. We bought it because we can tow four down and it's automatic. Now….to figure out how it works. We'll be looking for a dealer to install a Blue Ox Aventa II bar and baseplate. Don't know what kind of breaking system to use yet. We are now in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Any suggestions for a "quality" Blue Ox installer in our area would be most appreciated.
Have enjoyed your site for years and glad to now join.

Welcome and glad to meet you!
I would post your question in the towing forum. More people visit that forum than the new member forum.

Welcome to the forum and the great folks here. We have learned a lot here.
Sounds like you have worked out the toad. My wife and I own a 2011 Jeep GC. I had Blue Ox towing gear installed this week. Drove the RV from the dealer/installer with Jeep attached. I was delighted. I followed the steps shown in the owner's manual and it worked first time, every time. I'm not sure how they wired the lights, but brake lights, turn signals and tail lights all work from RV wiring to the Jeep. We did not require any extra lights or "remove a fuse" and other special adjustments required with some vehicles. I'm greatly relieved that it works as advertised. I'm not in Florida, so can't recommend an installer.
As for braking assistance, I'm in the same boat as you....need to decide which product to use. Knowing that most states require some kind of braking in the toad, we are going to have to choose something before we take a longer trip. Our motorhome is a 31 ft class A and its brakes have provided plenty of stopping power while driving here in our hometown. I have not tested it at higher speeds on the open highway.
Good luck and let us know of your progress as you get things together.

Thank you, Hudgens for the welcome and the information.
I have a good reference for an installer in Ocala that one of the forum members gave to me. Would you mind telling me who and where yours was installed in Louisiana. It might be closer to me than Ocala. I am in Fort Walton Beach, FL. The problem right now is this car is a new build so I don't want to go to someone and be the first or second Cherokee Latitude on which they've worked.
The braking systems I am considering are: SMI Stay-In-Play Duo, Roadmaster InvisiBrake. That's all I'm looking at right now.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your Jeep GC. We see a lot of them being towed and in campgrounds. I can't tow it because I'm in a 2013 27' Lazy Daze Class C I just purchased in Montclair, California.

The dealer that handled our installation has been around a long time (Cenla Campers). His senior service guy has been there 40 years, so they have seen a lot (except maybe your new wheels). They are located in Alexandria, LA (about center of the state). That would be quite a drive for you. There's sure to be someone in Florida that can do a good job for you. That's something I really like about this forum...there are so many knowledgeable folks. Someone on this forum probably knows some good options near you.
I've looked some at the InvsiBrake but haven't had time to check here on the forum to see how many RVers have tried it with good success. If I see anything that might be useful, I'll either post it or email it to you (assuming i can figure out how to do that). ;-) Good luck finding a good installer for your toad.

Thank you, Hudgens,
Alex is not too far for us. Wife was born in Cottonport. We know that area. I'll keep doing some research also and let you know what and when I decide. I do appreciate all your help.
Ed
