Hi everyone, just signed up a few days ago. Referred by a friend who wanted me to have more than just him available to ask questions. 8-)
We are long time campers, started in tent, advanced to small travel trailer for 14 years; sold that, downsized house...trying to prepare for retirement. Sure miss camping the last few years. We are looking mostly at used gas MH, lots to learn! Would appreciate suggestions of best places to look, opinions re: best quality used manufacturers... don't want to have payments to make, so looking in under 40 thou. Hope I am doing this right??!

I think a $40K budget would let you find a decent rig. We sold our '02 Georgetown 32-footer in December (on consignment). It sold for just over $24K. It was in excellent shape with only 18,000 miles from new (6000 in the four years we had it).
I'm not sure I'd full-time in something quite that small. We were only out 2 or three weeks at a time. If I were considering FT, I'd probably go looking at 36 or maybe 38' rigs. Good luck with the search.

Yes you are doing it right. Asking questions. My advice is, floor plan, floor plan, floor plan. If you don't like the floor plan you will not enjoy the RV as much as you should. For your budget you could look at older, high end, diesel pushers. I have bought more than one for under your budget. It is a must that you like to do some repair and modernization work if you go that route.

Good luck with your search ... be prepared to take some time to find the ONE that will fit your needs ..... we spent over a year finding ours ... but we were looking for a new home ... everyone's "idea" is different .........

Thanks everyone!
I am learning new info already and appreciate the feedback. We already know the floor plans that we like, we have some flexibility. We do not plan to do "full time", 2-3 months at a time max. We are pretty confident that 30-34 ft will be long enough. We like to wander on "dotted lines" 8-) and don't want to spend all our time indoors. Hope to be out on the road sooner, rather than later....
