Well, since I'm asking questions about fifth wheels, figured I'd introduce myself. Name is Jeff, and my wife and I are on the hunt for a fifth wheel to do a 2 year, maybe more, road trip. Between us, we're in our late 30's/early 40's, have no kids at home, and both of us telecommute. We're currently in Texas, kind of call Florida home, but are both originally from up north. When we leave, we'll have no home base, unless you call a storage unit home. We'll be traveling with our two dogs, and plan on spending alot of time out west, to include driving to Alaska. Tow vehicle is a 2016 SRW F350. I spent 20 years in the military, and am fortunate enough now to have the freedom to travel while still fairly young. Any suggestions are welcome!

Had to chuckle to my self over that one!

You two are lucky to be able to follow your dreams at an early age. Good for you guys!

Have fun!

Thanks for the welcome...We both feel young, but knowing you have two grown kids kind of puts that into perspective a little. I spent almost two months in an RV park this summer, I think I was one of the youngest there during the week. On the weekends, not so much.

You know Jeff, while we were in a Needles Ca RV park earlier this month we had talked to a couple traveling in a 5th wheel with a porch (a toy hauler). They were out enjoying the morning sun on their porch suspended about 3 feet off the ground. Thought to myself, if I had to do it all over again, I would seriously consider a toy hauler. Just an opinion.

I like the idea of a toy hauler, but the one's I've looked at execute the actual living space pretty poorly. I have seen some nice ones, but I'd have to step up my truck game to pull them! If you know of any that have a good living layout, I'm open to suggestions.
