Hello,
New member, but have lurked for some time. My wife and I have been married almost 30 years and have camped all 30. We started with a tent for many years. About 12 years ago we purchased a TT that we thoroughly enjoyed. We started looking at RV's 6 years ago and purchased a used Winnebago 31' class C. Now we are looking at retirement in the next 10-12 years and we want to get our feet wet traveling for several weeks at a time getting ready to be snowbirds and escape the NE winters. With this in mind we just purchased a 1999 American Dream, 40' DP, 330hp Cummins, 6 speed Allison. I never thought we would buy a coach this old, but after looking at the build quality and the features we wanted, we went all in.

We have 3 children that have been our focus and enjoyment. Our oldest (girl) has graduated with her masters from Vanderbuilt University in May and while now living with us has landed her dream job and her happiness is looking pretty bright. Our middle (boy) is currently in his sophomore year in college and is a starter for their wrestling team. Many, Many of our RV-ing miles to date has been attending wrestling tournaments around the East coast, Thousand Island Duals, Virginia Beach Nationals, Many College tournaments, and 3 NYS championship finals during High School years. He also looks to be well on his way to a successful adulthood. Our youngest (another Boy) is in his sophomore year of HS.

Once our youngest graduates and is off to college, Mom and Dad and going to do some more extensive travel, hence the DP purchase now.
Mom is a Dental Hygienist, is my rock ,and the Love of my life.
I am currently a Project Manager for a commercial roofing and sheet metal company. I started working fresh out of high school as a mechanic and body man at a local Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealer. Eventually, I was promoted to Service Manager, then ultimately Operations Manager, in charge of over 60 employees and every department except sales (thank god, lol). I was offered a position from an acquaintance and owner of the roofing company I could not turn down. That was 16 years ago, and haven't looked back.
I have drag raced for all of my Adult years. I build and fabricate complete race cars and components for many friends found along the way in our racing endeavors. 5 years ago I realized that none of my children were really interested in racing, and the wrestling had started to overcome our lives (which we thoroughly enjoy! ). I sold all the race car stuff, car, 5th wheel trailer, Ford Dually, etc etc. I did get a 2017 Shelby GT350 just to play around with, now I need a small trailer to take it with us

I do everything --work wise on repairing and maintaining our RV's. I cannot wait until I really dig into repairing and upgrading our "new" DP. I already have gotten lot's of advice and ideas from here. Thanks !

We are glad you joined us. Congratulations on the upgrade to your 40' American Dream. Based in my experience once you drive a DP you will never go back to gasoline.

There is a wealth of RV info available to you here just by asking. Browse the forums that interest you and don't be afraid to ask questions as our members like to help when they can. Enjoy the forums.

Welcome to the IRV2.COM

Well if you want to escape the North Weather check out Florida campsites and camping RV Parks at:
http://www.campFlorida.com

Lots to see and read in this forum which will add to your overall fun in RVing North America. You will find a lot here and for someone who is new can be a bit overwhelming for some. So take your time and it may help to click on the top LEFT on HOME As this will layout the all the FORUM more complete which will help you see everything easier.

Make sure to review the rules.

Also on the SECOND menu, you can add your USER CP The information you input here will help all other member learn more about you and help you find more of what interest you. So first thing first is to set up your profile (USER CP) so everyone can get to know you better. Take it slow and once opened start at the top. You can even add a photo of self and RV.

On top are two menus and the one on top is the forum and the one below that is more helpful and personal for you to tell your story and find helpful tools for you.

Any questions just post and ask the group and a whole and many will get back to you very quickly in most cases.

Again welcome.
