Hello Friends
I was doing some research on a diesel pusher I was thinking about buying and came across this Forum. Lots of great info. My Dad worked construction and took the whole family from my 8th grade to graduation years. There was 5 of us. We had a Concord pull behind and a slide in camper on a 1 ton Chevrolet. When I got a driver license I drove the 4 speed 1 ton work truck pulling a boat, Dad drove camper pulling the trailer, Mom drove a Lincoln pulling the Dirt Bikes. I loved our traveling life style. 5 different schools in the 8th grade. But we were all together. Traveled in the camper on the weekends to the motorcycle races. We upgraded to a 30 ft Kings Highway A class after I went to college. I am now 60 and have traveled with RV’s off and on all my life. I have a question:

I now travel as a Evangelist. A revival has broken out in Golden Co. My house is in Tennessee. I want to bring my wife out here but I don’t want to buy a house or spend a bunch of money on rent. I am looking at a 2004 Monaco Diplomat 40 ft. It has 16,000 miles on it. Never had a coach like that. I think my wife and I would love it. It still has the original tires which would probably have to be changed. The owner cranks it every week but hasn’t cranked the generator in a year since her husband passed away. What are y’all’s thoughts on this rig? Blessings

Welcome to IRV2. You will love the diesel pusher. That has a Cummins engine which is great. Hopefully the Allison Trans too. Yes. Tires are a dire necessity there. We bought a 2006 National Tropical with 26000 mi and the drivetrain is excellent and has given us no trouble.

You may have the problem we have though. Rubber parts do not hold up well when not used. You can expect to do a lot of small repairs on things like slide seals,AC to roof gaskets, plastic inside trim, and also anything that needs grease or oil applied. I spent several months working part time in it but it is mostly under control. One AC broke down due to age as did the backup screen and cd/radio. The generator will probably be OK. Just change the oil and filters before running it and give the entire rig a dose of Seafoam then run the generator for 4-5 hours to clean it out. We had to do some work on the fridge too. I am assuming you are getting it at less than a quarter of the original price. If not hold out for less because you may need to spend some money on it.

If you are willing to work on it and got a bargain then go for it otherwise it may not be for you. We are pleased with ours.

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to get a certified inspection done (one you pay for) and get an idea of the "real condition" of the rig.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure.

Thanks! I am getting it for about $45000.

I would be happy with that. We are here to help with the questions. Make some short trips to find out what you need to do.

Glad to have you here with us.

Before you buy this MH I would have it professionally inspected. A coach that has been sitting for a while can easily have problems that can become expensive to fix. With an inspection you will have a better chance of avoiding future issues with it. Good luck !
