Hey!
My name is Debbie ! Thanks so much for this site. My husband ,Brian and i joined the full time rv living about 4 months ago! Due to his oilfield career of 27 years is no longer the option right now we had to go where a job was and him changing his career!!!! We are still learning daily and have learned completely that my fifth wheel is nice but not made for full time living lol But we are adjusting and we love the option to just hook up and go when the urge hits to camp when heís not working! I still have my sticks and brick and we are still debating on selling or keeping it for our daughter ! Hope everyone has had a great weekend!!!!

Sell the house, upgrade the 5th wheel to a 40' and enjoy. Bank the rest of the cash from the house and don't touch it. Since he is working, I'm Guessing your not moving to often. Probably at least a couple months in one spot. Probably not Glamping in fancy RV parks. I tend to stay in simple RV parks. Just me and 2 cats. Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and even up here in Minnesota there are a lot of construction workers full time in some very nice 5th wheels. Try for one with a rear bedroom. Then you can escape him when he comes home dirty and smelly from working. Make him shower and put the clothes in the built in washer dryer combo. A splendid is small capacity, but it is effortless. Put the load in and 2 1/2 hours its done without touching it. Big TV and good internet. you can live just like at home, but for half the cost. A lot of the lower Midwest campgrounds welcome construction workers. any either have large LP tanks or have a company that supplies them and comes through and fills. In the winter, shoot for jobs fare enough south to avoid hard freezing. Head north to beautiful Minnesota/Wisconsin/North and South Dakota. At 27 years experience he will have no trouble finding work wherever he goes.

As far as the kids go, remember, you are not their retirement fund. Spend it on yourself. I keep telling mine I have enough set aside to bury me. Beyond that, consider it a windfall depending on how long I live.

Welcome to our Campfire!
I agree on selling Your home and fully investing the funds,[The current real estate market is stupud hot right now] .. but keep what you have if it is "livable" and meets your needs for the next year or mebbe two.. by then there may be a glut of lightly used RV's that many have discovered that they don't like camping or no longer can afford their payments.. THEN upgrade to the larger/4 season/ full timer rig.

Welcome to the forum! In our travels during the past few years, we've seen and talked to quite a few people that are on the road and going where needed to stay employed. I tip my hat to you and your husband and hope you enjoy your travels! I think that having an RV would sure beat moving from one apartment or house to another everytime you need to move on, and probably a bit less expensive. So, best wishes and enjoy!
