New member and new to RV world

Hello All,
I just joined and would like any advice and information as this will be all new to me. I hope to retire in few years and would like to travel slowly and see the USA in a RV.

I've been going back n forth from diesel to gas and 24' to 35' to class A to class C and new to used...
Here is my vision one day--Retire, downsize and maybe end up as a full time RV-er while I still can enjoy.

I would like to be able to stay at State and National parks and do some fishing and I understand being under 30' is best?
I went to a small RV show in Vegas and thought those 25' class C were a little too small; to spend more than a couple of weeks in.

I like the Legacy 340KP or the new 2017 model 34C floorplan, which are in 35' range; the max length I would get.
I like it is diesel, air ride and brakes and has everything you would need.
But is this too big to go into parks and too much for a solo traveler to handle?
I'm sure I would have to get a toad if I got this class A.
The other RV that has caught my eye are the Flair 29T and the 2017 Aspect 27D floorplans, both of these are under 30' and gas.

The question of gas vs diesel--if I get gas and only get 8 miles to the gallon then I might not be able to afford to travel I like diesel because of the mileage and power but understand the cost to own diesel too.

Are class A better than class C ?
Gas vs Diesel? (I have read the forums on this already and learned a lot already)
Fleetwood vs Forest River vs Winnebago??

My main concerns is getting something too big and not enjoying to drive or parking becomes an issue. I think the 25' class C is going to be too small for staying in for long periods of time (month or more).
I also like to have some space to invite some friends to join me once in a while or come stay, if I go full time.

Lots of questions but I have time to figure out so currently looking at 2017 models as in 2020, they will be three years old.

Thank you for any help or advice. I know it will be my choice but I'm trying to minimize first time buyers mistakes.

from WA State!

We had a 25' Type C mh, bought new in 1997. In '98 we went to a 35' Type A as we wanted more space. No problem getting into any state park we wanted and the bigger rig was more to our liking.

Hi Ray! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

You've got a lot of tire-kicking to do! Take your time and do a lot of research. It will pay off long-term!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Welcome. The search can be frustrating but rewarding in the end. We had the same dilemma and ended up with a 24+ foot Class C ( (Isata 3 by Dynamax) with a full side slide which gives us tons of room. It is a Diesel. We spend up to 4 months at a time in it and we do tow a small car as well. Perfect set up for us. Good luck in your search.
